A Modern Yellow California Wedding

In the mood for a gorgeous wedding gown? Today’s stunner of a Vera Wang is quite possibly one of my all time favorite gowns! All the soft layers are just so romantic! Not only is the gown amazing, but I am loving all the modern florals and the fun handmade shot glass favors!

The lovely bride Annette shares:

The inspiration was Los Angeles and urban elements. The color scheme was based on a magnolia tree bark brown, olive green, and butter cream yellow. Damiens suit was a navy blue Burberry double breasted suit with Bruno Magli shoes, I was in a Vera Wang couture gown with iridescent roses hand painted. The roses signified Damien grandmother as they were her favorite flower, she was Damien’s whole world and he lost her about 7 years ago, accompanying my dress I wore Bradley Mischka royal blue peep toe shoes I wore my mothers cross and other than my wedding band that was the only piece of jewelry I had on that day. My veil was a traditional mantila veil that was catherdral length because it my dress wasnt dramatic enough I needed my veil to really make a statement. LoL

The location was a hole in the wall and a diamond in the rough just outside downtown Los Angeles. We wanted the lighting to be soft and intimate and so we only used pendent lights that the venue provided and hundreds of tea lights. Our food was excursively comfort foods mini cheeseburgers (my favorite), fried chicken (damiens favorite), taquitos and guacamole, tostadas, french fries, fettucini alfredo, and of course salad. All of which are regulars in our kitchen! Our cake was not typical it was a 3 tired cupcake cake that was carrot cake. The wedding gifts for our guest were mini jaritos (mexican shot glasses) instead of a traditional champagne toast we had our guests take shots of tequila. Damien and I were quite the social butterflies and whenever we went out Patron was out shot of choice, so we thought we would. Also our bar had Damien and my favorite drinks whiskey, maragritas stella artoris, high life, and red wine. We also had a juice bar with horchata, jamaica, and tamarindo mexican drinks.

Damien and I felt it was so very important to make this wedding about US, and the things WE loved. During the planning process we tried very hard to not let outside influences get in the way of the planning. And in the end we were very successful!
