East Meets West for this Garden-Inspired Virginia Wedding

Katie and Sam’s wedding maintained a heartfelt, family focus on Christian and Korean traditions and a backdrop of garden-inspired beauty. July at The Estate at River Run in Virginia provided lush manicured gardens overlooking the James River. A breathtaking chandelier hung at the center of the ballroom, casting moments of sparkle from the floor-to-ceiling windows. At the altar stood a golden table for their unity candles and an asymmetrical display of roses and ranunculus. Katie’s garden-inspired Made With Love gown included three-dimensional petals joined by subtle moments of sequins. The couple also chose to do a traditional Paebaek ceremony; one of their fondest memories of the day. This Korean ceremony included more of their extended family in the celebrations. In preparation, Sam’s mother took Katie to a Hanbok store to get fitted for custom traditional attire and to welcome her into the family. Amidst the reception were subtle moments of garden delights, as blush-colored dishes and rosy glassware complemented tender pink buds. In the mansion’s sunlit room, Katie and Sam celebrated with a choreographed first dance.
