You are going to fall head over heels for this eclectic and whimsical tented wedding from Maura Jane Photography. The mixture of Chinoiserie vases with wild local florals is breath-taking! The whole look turned their outdoor tented wedding into a wonderland of lush florals. Even the bridesmaids’ bouquets are as vibrant and unique as their dresses!
I wanted an outdoor, seated dinner wedding in beautiful scenery. Chris and I had been coming to Santa Fe for a couple of years and it felt right. I loved Asian blue and white vases and that really became the over arching theme. I wanted less of a Southern Living look and more of a chinoiserie feel. I wanted more natural organic flowers, sticks, pussy willow, etc. I wanted vivid colors to make the blue and white vases pop. We loved that La Posada was so central, our guest could walk out of the hotel and easily access the plaza. The lawn was perfect for the seated dinner I had imagined.
I visited several boutiques to find a wedding gown. I tried on numerous gowns but just was not finding anything I loved. I sought out Nardos, a couture dress designer in Dallas and she created a custom gown for me. It was the perfect mix of classic and elegant but sexy and fun. Chris’s Tux was a designer tux, he is very into fashion and loves wearing more edgy looks. He found a Thom Browne tux, Gucci slippers and then changed into Nike sneakers and a Nick Fouquet hat.
One of my favorite parts was seeing the tent come to life. After 2 years of planning, I was able to see my vision and it was exactly what I had imagined. The tent was truly breathtaking. Floriography was our florist. I had a very specific vision in mind. They used all local flowers and went above my expectations. The florals blew away everyone! I had men coming up to me telling me how gorgeous the flowers were and they had never seen anything like it. We had rich reds, pinks and oranges with sticks and stock mixed in. It was so whimsical.
My sister Gloria who is a senior in College designed all the stationery. We worked together to create something unique. We had some trial and error but the end products were beautiful. I really wanted to incorporate moss into the florals. I found these cool moss numbers and our wedding planner A Beautiful Theme helped make them into table numbers. We collected all the vases in the wedding. Some were family vases others we found at vintage shops. The head table had custom napkins that were gifted to the bride after her engagement.
