With heritage at the forefront, this botanical wedding inspiration from Figment Photography is a great example of how to honor the past on your wedding day! Blending traditions and styles from the midwest’s history, this shoot is the perfect mix of old and new.
This shoot was specifically designed to highlight the beauty and roots of the Midwest. Most of the vendors and our models live in Rockford, IL, the less glamorous, smaller version of Chicago. Our roots are deep, our history is long, and the quiet charm of the Midwest is the perfect backdrop to pure and honest love.
Illinois’s roots are based largely in Scandinavian culture with some Irish and English mixed in. More recently it has become a mini-melting pot that embodies the American spirit, but it is important to many of our brides that they pay homage to their heritage. We incorporated some traditions into this shoot that are easy ways to reflect back to the weddings of our great-grandparents. (Scandinavian kransekake (wedding cake), Swedish wedding crown with a twist, Victorian English flower girl’s hoop, and Irish blessings.)
Simple, elegant weddings are the perfect way to focus in on the significance of the day, the love that is being shared, and the friends and family that are being joined together. Our dress is a 1970s wedding gown modified to fit a current style, the engagement ring is from the 1920s, and everything else was handmade to blend a history of tradition with modern style.
