If you’ve got a vision for a romantic boho fete for your wedding, you will love this barn wedding from Captured by Kelly Photography! The fresh orange and champagne color palette is perfection and so are the boho details (hello macrame bouquet wrap!) And how perfect is the whiskey barrel ring escort card display handmade by the groom?
Our vision was to bring two general styles together. We are definitely not country club or winery people so a venue just felt right. Jesse grew up on a family farm and so the barn we chose that featured tools on the walls for the reception and back drop just felt like him. Sarah moved around a lot as a kid and is more into the boho style so that came in through the decorations. We both love the outdoors as well so having an outdoor wedding was important. We really wanted to have both of us present as we began our journey together as husband and wife.
On the bridal bouquet, we tied on both maternal grandmother’s rings as the something old. The wedding dress was the something new while the seamstress had sewed in a blue bow into the dress for the something blue. The something borrowed was Sarah’s mom’s diamond earrings that she wore. Jesse wore his maternal grandfather’s watch and his favorite gold necklaces.
For Jesse, his favorite memory is seeing his bride walk down the aisle. We both tend to be very emotional people and the whole ceremony matched that entirely since one of our closest friends, Brandyn, was our officiant. It was a really beautifully planned ceremony. For Sarah, seeing her groom as she rounded the corner down the aisle (he looked so freaking handsome!) – but also getting a chance to have fun with our friends and family and enjoy everything we had planned with them to celebrate our marriage.
Jesse loves to make things and fix things so he was recruited to make the copper pipe frame behind our sweetheart table. He also made the geometric table numbers using a 3D printer he recently fixed up. All of the signs were DIY and so was the seating chart using whiskey barrel rings they had mounted on the wall at the barn. A lot of DIY mixed with our own spin on things to make it fit us better. We also collected bottles for the centerpieces that featured some our favorite sodas like Barq’s root beer, coke, whiskeys, etc. We utilized picture frames to display our engagement photos and some of our other favorites on a ledge all around the barn.
We also had a cookie table where people contributed different cookies – new recipes and family recipes. For favors, Sarah’s mom makes incredible royal icing cookies and she made and individually bagged cookies as our favors with a gold letter “D” with designs around it to match the wedding. They are beautiful and taste amazing! We were really happy with how they turned out as a treat for everyone.
