Showing love for their hometown, today’s couple was inspired by California’s citrus history for their wedding captured by Jenn & Pawel Photography. The bride’s vintage dress and veil are breath-taking (and a total steal for less than $60 for the whole look!) And the bridesmaids’ floral print dresses fit perfectly into the colorful vintage vibe!
Kyle and I wanted to get married in a location that had historical value to our town. Riverside, CA used to be one of America’s largest orange suppliers, so the California Historic Citrus State Park fit the bill perfectly. We chose our colors to match the citrus theme. In addition, finding my dress was the catalyst in the decision to add a vintage flair to our wedding.
Vintage and affordable was the goal for our attire. My mom found my $25 wedding dress at Goodwill; I initially tried on the dress as a joke, but ended up falling in love with it. I’m a halfway decent seamstress so I altered the dress myself and found a $30 vintage veil on Etsy to complete the look. Kyle splurged and purchased a new gray suit for our wedding; he was also able to find a MadMen-esque Italian tie on Etsy that perfectly matched our wedding colors. Our bridesmaids wore affordable wiggle-style dresses from Asos and our groomsmen were able to wear suits they already owned.
The most important thing to Kyle and I was having our family around us and being able to make our day as special for them as it was for us. We had both our families there by our sides to help put together our wedding, but at the end of the day, I’m so glad we splurged and hired a wedding coordinator. Even though our wedding was smaller and we had so much support, Kyle and I were both extremely stressed. Having a third party to coordinate the event made it so much easier on our families and ourselves.
We both agree that our favorite part of the day was sitting next to each other at the reception, relaxing after the chaos of the wedding ceremony. After all the build up and stress of the wedding, sitting with my best friend and soaking in all the love from our friends and family that surrounded us was the most amazing experience ever.
