If you thought engagement sessions were only a two hour deal, this lakeside engagement shoot captured by Koby Brown will show you a beautiful alternative. This couple chose to take their time and really enjoy the experience, making a trip out of their shoot and spreading it out over two days. The picturesque setting of Lake George in New York was the perfect backdrop for this getaway, with a little bit of boating, island exploring, and picnics on their schedule. The stunning 1929 wooden boat is a dream and creates such a timeless feel to the images.
Paul and I share an appreciation for exploring the world and try to travel as often as we can. We have traveled hand-in-hand exploring new cultures, eating delicious local cuisine, and seeing inspiring sites. Last September, we ventured to the California coast and decided that this time around, we would drive the Pacific Coast Highway from San Francisco to San Clemente. Along the way, we stopped at many breathtaking Pacific Ocean overlooks and hiked through Red Wood filled forests. Paul planned the entire adventure, and unbeknownst to me, had handpicked each and every stop throughout Big Sur. As we neared the end of the Big Sur stretch, we stopped at the secluded overlook of Sand Dollar Beach. With the beautiful Pacific Ocean as our back drop, Paul asked me to spend the rest of my life with him.
We knew that our wedding and many of its associated festivities would take place in Houston, among numerous family and friends. Despite growing up in Houston for the majority of my life, I really wanted to incorporate a piece of where Paul grew up in to our wedding story. Paul grew up in Upstate New York, an hour south of The Adirondacks, an often overlooked upstate treasure. He spent time skiing the area in the winter and boating along Lake George in the summer. Throughout our relationship, we took many trips to his family’s Lake George lake house, and the beautiful lake, surrounded by infinite mountains, grew to be a place we looked forward to visiting each year. When we were thinking of our destination engagement shoot we could think of no better place than Lake George, New York. The story Koby & Elizabeth, of Archetype, captured of our time exploring the hundreds of islands that spread across the lake and cruising the smooth waters in a classic Hacker-Craft wooden boat will be a treasured memory for the rest of our lives.
