Today I’m sharing this elegant Rhode Island manor wedding from Sarah Pudlo & Co. The venue has such a timeless feel, lending perfectly to a vintage vibe that this couple fell in love with.
I love Rhode Island because it’s the perfect mix of quaint and glamour. Our entire wedding was inspired by this perfect combination. We wanted people to feel they came to a glamorous, vintage-inspired event with the relaxed vibes of being on the water, sipping summer cocktails, dancing, and just having a good time together. The Glen Manor House was the perfect venue to make this dream come to life. The Glen has gorgeous architecture inspired by a French Chateau, but it at the same time has simplistic charm throughout its gardens and location.
I made sure to have my late grandmother’s antique hand mirror with me as I got ready. I also wore her favorite perfume, Chanel no. 5. It felt we were honoring her by capturing that moment.
I knew my bridesmaids had to wear a light, airy blush pink. It’s just a happy color that suited the overall theme we wanted; glamorous yet relaxed. I also knew I wanted the girls to pick their dress style, to go with the theme of relaxed, I wanted them to feel good and relaxed. In addition, I also had each bridesmaid pick an individual hairpiece from several options, all from Etsy. My bridesmaids and our friendships are each individual, so I wanted to capture that individuality while having them be coordinated. The end result felt whimsical while still somewhat uniform.
For the ceremony we wanted to do something to tie in the Sakonnet River, a popular fishing river the Glen Manor overlooks. So we decided to do the ‘tying of the fisherman knot’ in our ceremony. It made for a funny, meaningful personal touch and now we have a keepsake from that special moment. I can’t tie a knot very well, in the literal sense, and I was almost pulled over by pulling it tight. It lightened the mood to say the least!
Most of the details in our wedding were inspired by our relaxed-glam theme. From the lemonade stand as guests entered the ceremony to the his and her drinks, we really wanted people to soak in the day and just enjoy themselves. We didn’t want anything stuffy, we just wanted fun. People loved walking to the docks to take a photo at sunset, and signing our guest ‘book’ wine bottle when they had a moment.
The entire day was perfectly magical. It was happy, beautiful, emotional, fun, and crazy all at the same time! Sarah Pudlo captured the beauty that was the day so well. I remember saying to all of my friends, “I can’t believe this is my wedding.” It was an amazing day we will never forget.
