What is more summer than ice cream, BBQ, and family? This intimate Maine camp wedding from Jamie Mercurio has all that you love about this time of year, plus a ceremony. Perfectly simple, sweet, and tons of fun. I love all the classic gingham print!
We wanted our wedding to be laid-back, almost more like a family reunion that happened to have a wedding at the beginning. Bradley and I were picturing a fancy picnic with BBQ, ice cream, and lawn games. We didn’t have an official bridal party, opting instead to have our parents and siblings walk in before us to the ceremony.
We did first look photos before our ceremony and I loved getting to sneak up on Bradley. Our ceremony was extremely memorable to me, from my sister doing our readings, to giving our parents a thank-you-for-raising-me note, to remembering our departed loved ones, to our vows to love what we know of each other and trust what we don’t yet know.
We loved the open and airy feel of Camp Ketcha and the fact that we could do the ceremony and reception in one place. Since our ‘bridal party’ didn’t require matching clothes at all our only colors were in the decorations – we chose blue gingham and dusty rose as our main colors.
We tried to do as much DIY as possible. We designed our own invitations online through Paperless Post. We designed our own programs, placecards, and table numbers. Our favors were cookies (1 peanut butter and 1 chocolate chip) that I made! My mother was kind enough to draw our guest book Thumb Print Tree for us – which was designed to look like a tree that is two trees growing together and is actually located at Camp Ketcha. While Broadturn Farm supplied our flowers we had volunteer friends arrange them day-of. We would have been lost without my friend Corinne Jagger who organized our friends to help set up and made sure everything on our day went smoothly – she was truly a lifesaver.
