Today’s wedding from Leslie D Photography is the perfect example that a barn wedding doesn’t have to be rustic. This couple chose to go romantic with a hint of glamour and it contrasted beautifully with their venue. I absolutely love the tulle draping as their ceremony backdrop, such a unique idea!
Even before we were officially engaged, Spencer and I had seen pictures of The Windmill Winery and fell in love with it. Shortly after we got engaged Christmas 2013 we made an appointment to see it in person and decided we didn’t need to look anywhere else, we had found the place we would become husband and wife.
My dress was the only real concrete detail that I really cared much about (I clock way too many hours watching bridal shows). I tried on several different gowns but you definitely know when you have put on your gown.
Our ceremony was so full of love, it was perfect! I’m a daddy’s girl so it meant the world to me to have him walk me down the aisle and stand by my side as he has done my whole life. We wanted the first time we saw each other to be as I was walking down the aisle and we will both tell you there is no better memory to have than seeing the love of your life for the first time on your wedding day.
I wanted our wedding day to have a soft and romantic feel and chose to use pale pink and gold for our colors. I gave our decorator very basic ideas that I liked and let her create something gorgeous and she went above what I could have ever imagined. To take some of the stress away we decided to forego smaller details like seating charts and put our effort into details we cared more about like writing our own vows. The venue packaged most all of the vendors together, which was really convenient.
When we first got engaged so many people warned us that the time would just fly by, so we really tried to enjoy every minute and not sweat every little thing. I was late to our venue on the wedding day literally having my own guests pull to the side of the road to let me pass but despite feeling pressured to get in my dress fast I still insisted on peeking at my ceremony and reception space first. I knew if I waited until I was walking down the aisle or greeting guests I wouldn’t be able to soak it all in the same.
