If you’re dreaming of a barn wedding, these romantic Nebraska nuptials from THE LEEKERS is the perfect inspiration. I love the neutral and peach color palette and the simple and chic handmade details.
We both grew up in Nebraska and after months of going back and forth we decided to have the wedding in our hometown. We knew we wanted to have a small and intimate gathering of family and friends but had somewhat of a difficult time selecting a venue, as options were limited in the area.
A family friend mentioned the idea of using his property and after seeing it we knew it would be the perfect location. The property is located just outside of Lincoln and features a 100-year-old barn that was restored by the owner. We always knew we wanted to have an outdoor wedding and both loved the idea of having it in the fall. We had the ceremony along a hill behind the barn and the reception was held inside the 2-story barn. The inspiration behind our wedding was rustic and romantic. The barn was very rustic so I wanted to offset that with feminine colors, flowers, and vintage elements.
Caleb and I both decided that the wedding photos were the most important detail to us because it would be a way for us to remember the day forever! We really wanted the photos to be an expression of our personal style.
I wanted to create a romantic and magical feel for guests as they walked into the barn after the ceremony. Most of the vintage items were rented from Nostalgia Rentals and some were borrowed from family and friends. We used Found & Flora for all of the floral centerpieces and bouquets. The smell of the flowers filled the barn and created even more of a romantic feel. We also incorporated a lot of DIY projects as well. We saved money by designing and printing our own invitations and programs. The week of the wedding we made the succulent and moss centerpieces that were used on the head table and banquet tables on the first floor of the barn. Caleb and I also made the fabric backdrop that hung on the second floor of the barn behind the bar. The DIY projects were a great way for us to work together and create something as a couple which made it more meaningful.
We both love sweets and wanted to have a large dessert table for guests to snack on. We had three different flavors of cupcakes as well as ginger cookies and candy placed in apothecary jars. Caleb’s brother is a bartender and came up with his and hers drinks for us to serve. We used a vintage chalkboard to display the drink menu for guests.
