Before DJ and I got engaged, we had been dating since high school – 8 years! I always knew I wanted to get married outside. Arizona is so picturesque and I dreamed of having the colorful sunset and beautiful mountains in the background of our wedding. We finally found El Chorro, which was such a gem of a location – Outdoor, casual yet so elegant and intimate.
I think both of us can agree that the first look was absolutely the best part of the day. If couples are debating the idea, I would definitely say “go for it!” The experience is so private and full of love and emotion. It really allowed us to pull it together for the ceremony. Everything is so quick all day and I felt like the first look slowed everything down for us, we had time to talk, cry and hug.. lots of sweet hugs! :)
Things most important to us were showing our personalities in the details of the wedding. With that, I strayed away from the idea of anything “traditional”. I loved our DIY details because they gave the wedding such an personal and homemade feel. We love to travel and DJ loves music so we had to incorporate that in our wedding theme, which ended up translating so well!
