Get ready to fall head over heels for this whimsical summer wedding from Tan Weddings & Events captured by Ryan Greenleaf Photography! This couple are big travelers, so they made sure to incorporate some fun travel themed details into their day. We love the cute matching jean jackets with The Proclaimers classic song quote!
We were certain we wanted an outdoor wedding that highlights the sunny Californian lifestyle that we both fell in love with once we moved to San Francisco from New York City. With its beautiful gardens, historical Californian estate, and what seemed like endless sunflower fields surrounding its grounds, Park Winters became the perfect venue to celebrate our big day. To complement the beautiful outdoor setting we chose a muted and pastel color palette with canary yellow, soft pink, shades of blues and ivory. Finally, we brought in our passion for travel with travel themed decor and favors.
Despite her initial resistance to ball gowns, Christina (and her bridal party) fell in love when she tried on the Paula gown from Helen Miller. It’s cathedral length train and layers of tulle gave the wow factor Christina wanted while the delicate details in the corset and along the bodice simply made her fell beautiful and special. It was the perfect dress that she didn’t know she wanted.
To pay our respect to our Chinese background and elders in our families, we incorporated a contemporary tea ceremony right before the start of our wedding ceremony.
The top priority of our wedding was guest experience before, during and after the wedding day. We focused on activities (i.e., welcome drinks, wine tasting tours and welcome dinner) and logistical factors (transportation, hotel reservations) to provide a seamless experience for our friends and family that traveled far and near to celebrate with us. Falling not far behind was having a live-band at the wedding to help close out the biggest day in our lives. We offset the higher cost of a live-band by taking out the photo booth (we opted for instant cameras instead), DIYing some of the decors and designing their own papery.
Our cake by Grace and Gusto was exactly what we had imagined and more. It complemented our travel theme with a geometric map wrapped around the cake. Hearts were drawn on the cities that hold a special place in our hearts. Fondant paper planes were added around the cake as we plan to travel more and create more memories together in the future.
