We’ve fallen head over heels for this chic Sonoma destination wedding from Tan Weddings & Events captured by Elizabeth Warrick! With a neutral color palette and classic details, this outdoor wedding is so lovely. We love the emerald green jewel tone bridesmaid gowns!
We wanted to go for a classic romantic look. I grew up in wine country in Europe and adore old stone buildings, greenery and vineyards. We wanted a place that would have fabulous weather in October but also a place we knew our guests would enjoy as their own special getaway. Sonoma was a place we both enjoyed and it ticked all the boxes. When we found Sonoma Golf Club, it just fit the exact vision we were looking for. As far as colors, we wanted to keep in neutral and classic.
We wanted to keep the attire neutral with jewel earth tones. All men in tuxes and all ladies in jewel tone gowns.
Since I’m in food media, food was very important to us and being able to customize our menu to make it ours. We also really wanted to set the mood with live jazz during cocktail hour and while people ate dinner. We searched hundred of bands to find the right one. But our biggest must was to have a multi-event experience as everyone was from out of town: a welcome reception the day before our wedding to have both sides meet and mingle, the wedding day and brunch with bubbles the day after to exchange funny stories from the night before. I feel like our entire wedding was a splurge to be honest. We had a much smaller budget to begin with and ended up throwing it out the window for a once in a lifetime experience.
Colin and I loved every moment of our wedding. We loved eating dinner under twinkle lights and the setting sun listening to the jazz. The day of the wedding can be a bit of a blur for the bride and groom so we thoroughly enjoyed the rehearsal dinner/welcome reception and the brunch as times for us to just exhale and enjoy all our loved ones. I mistakenly ate an hor d’oeuvre from the cocktail hour while waiting to be announced with my husband for dinner. I dropped sauce all over my silk dress and had all my bridesmaids helping to get it clean with some soda water and a blow dryer. My wedding planner also last minute made me a garter our of rope since i lost mind before the toss. She was a lifesaver!
Your wedding day will never go 100% smoothly. Just take a breath, enjoy the day and slow your mind. It will be over in a flash of a second and you don’t want to spend any of it fixated on what ends up not being perfect. No one will see it but you and at the end of the day, it wont matter much.
