It doesn’t get more Americana than a retro elopement in Las Vegas! Rachel and Matt attend Viva Las Vegas, a rockabilly festival, every April in Las Vegas. This time they decided to secretly elope while there and brought Andi Artigue Photography along to capture the the fun!
We really loved that the day was just for the two of us. We took our time eating breakfast together and getting ready. There were some hiccups along the way, but everything turned out perfectly in the end. Having a big space in the Neon Museum all to ourselves was really special. We love the history and all things kitsch, so the backdrop of elaborate Las Vegas fading neon signs was perfect. We absolutely couldn’t have picked a better spot to get married.
I (Rachel) always knew that I wanted to wear vintage. I’d had the perfect powder blue 1940’s two-piece ensemble sitting in my closet for ages, just waiting for the right occasion. Matt wanted to find something that coordinated well but didn’t scream “traditional wedding.” We both love how everything turned out.
Just remember that your wedding should be about you, not about pleasing other people. Of course it’s important to make sure your loved ones are comfortable, but those who really love you back will just be happy to celebrate you on your special day. We held a wedding reception months after our elopement, where we fed vegan food (our personal diets) to a crowd of meat-eaters and everyone ended up loving it. Do what makes you happy.
