Today’s wedding is a fairytale, literally. With a magical ivy covered ruin as a ceremony backdrop and tables inspired by famous literary couples, this storybook wedding captured by Enmuse Photography is full of romantic inspiration!
We decided that we wanted a romantic fairy-tale book wedding and the most important thing for us was to make it special for our family and friends as well! Barnsley Gardens Resort in Adairsville, with their manor house ruins that fit our fairy-tale vibe perfectly and their adorable cosy cute cottages that we put all of our families and wedding party up in, was absolutely perfect for everything we wanted! They are even dog-friendly, which was very important to us so that our fur-babies could be involved! We had our rehearsal dinner in the bamboo garden covered in fairy lights and candles and moss everywhere! And the ruins felt like we were in a castle. We had our ceremony and our reception at the ruins and had tons of flowers and books and candles and chandeliers to accent the already beautiful atmosphere.
I found my perfect wedding dress following Hayley Paige on Instagram and once I saw it I knew it was the one! We found the dress at Wedding Angels and when I put it on it was even more perfect than I expected. It’s a very romantic blush asymmetrical tiered dress with lace and a train. And for the finishing touches my hair was done in a side braid and flowers that matched my bouquet were placed in the braid! RJ went to HKT Customs on Buford highway and had his suit and shirt custom made for him. The whole process at HKT was amazing and personalized.
Since my Dad passed before I got married we tried to include him in several ways. My grandmother gave me her first locket with a picture of my Dad in it to attach to my bouquet, it was my something old. At the reception table we had a picture of my Dad and I together and a vase of the flowers he gave me every year for my birthday. My brothers walked me down the aisle and when asked who would give me away they said “In honor of our dad and with the blessing of our mother, we do.” One of my Dad’s best friends officiated at our wedding, which made the ceremony very special.
Since I love to read and collect books (yes, real books!) we decided to have guests bring a book that they signed, instead of signing a guestbook. It could be a book about places they’ve been or a favourite author they wanted to share, or just advise like how to stay happily married. We were surprised with some amazing books to add to my collection. Some were books that had been handed down in the family and some about famous ancestors! All were signed by friends and family wishing us well or telling us great places to go as a newly married couple. We have really enjoyed looking back through these books while my husband is building me my first real library in our home.
Since the wedding was in late September we thought it might be cool in the evening for the outdoor reception. We bought a variety of throws in fall colors and tied bows around each one with a tag that said “To have and To hold in case it gets cold!”
Our favorite part of the day was getting to celebrate with all of our friends and family and our reception! Having everyone we love in one place with everyone hanging out and partying together was the most special and amazing part of our day!
