It is easy to fall in love with today’s colorful and fun Texas wedding from Gracie Byrd Jones. With a modern and clean venue choice, this couple was able to customize, creating most of the decor and paper goods for a vibrant celebration!
We are both from the east coast and now live in Austin, TX. Pretty much everyone was traveling to Austin to be with us for our wedding. We were so excited to show everyone the city and our life here. Once we saw the Prospect House, we knew it was the perfect place for our wedding. All of our guests stayed in downtown Austin, but taking them out to Dripping Springs on our wedding day gave them an entirely different experience! Having our wedding in February, we knew the field out at the Prospect House would be dormant, which we loved but wanted the color scheme to add some warmth. I fell in love with this deep emerald green and from there decided to bring in citrus colors. I’m an artist and loved designing everything so I definitely took a hands-on approach to that!
Overall we just wanted it to feel like one big family party! We wanted it to be elegant but also just super comfortable! We knew from the start we wanted a family-style meal and when we did our tasting with Royal Fig we decided to have fried chicken, Texas ribeye and mac and cheese. We also had shrimp & grits as one of our passed appetizers. It felt casual but also had some Texas flair for our out of town guests! Most important to us, was awesome food and a great band. Royal Dukes had everyone on the dance floor the entire night which was honestly all we wanted! One of our favorite photos from the night is taken from the back of the room with every seat empty, and a full dance floor!
