Get ready to fall head over heels for today’s Charleston wedding from Catherine Ann Photography. Blending the couple’s love of all things vintage and traveling, this chic soiree has everything: amazing scallop beaded gown, handmade vintage postcard table cards, sweet heirloom accessories, and more all set at a historical mansion.
I love everything historical and wanted people to feel like they had stepped back in time. We live in Connecticut but Scott is from South Carolina and I adore Charleston, so we put it on the list. We almost got married in Ireland but knew it would mean a lot of people couldn’t come, and it was important to us to have our friends and family with us. We fell in love with the William Aiken house because it feels like you’re in another era. I love everything vintage and timeless, with a little bohemian flair and a lot of sparkle!
I have always loved Art Deco design and I knew I wanted something different for my dress. When I found the fully beaded dress I knew it was perfect. The design and vibe was perfect to fit the venue.
I had a pin on my fur shawl that was my great great aunts and I carried a locket with me that had my grandfather and grandmothers photos in it.
The music was perfect, a great mix of old and new. People were dancing all night. Scott’s vows were so heartfelt and incredible. The service at the WAH made us feel like we were in Downton Abbey!
For our florals I wanted blush, peach, a little whimsical, and a lot of variety. I also wanted slightly smaller bouquets so it didn’t take away from the dresses. They were PERFECT!!
We just wanted everyone to have a great time and enjoy the whole weekend. We splurged on a lot! I saved by making the place cards myself to look like little vintage postcards and by learning calligraphy to write the names.
I am generally anti-favor, but we needed love card holders so I found some vintage skeleton key place card holders that are bottle openers and they were perfect!
Our cake was an homage to the mountains and hiking and camping, which we love. It was carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, dark chocolate cake with espresso frosting, and vanilla cake with pink champagne frosting. Our bear cake toppers were perfect to fit our personalities because we love animals and nature.
