We have fallen head over heels for this sweet lavender wedding from Cassi Claire Photography. The bride’s beaded lace Anna Campbell gown is breath-taking and adds the perfect romantic touch. We love the lavender details, like the sprig escort cards made by the bride’s mom.
We chose our location, Manhattan College, because that was where we met. Also, they have a beautiful chapel on campus. We went with light colors for flowers, dresses, decor, etc. because we both prefer gem tones and natural colors. We originally looked at the Loeb Boathouse under the assumption that it was completely out of our price range; however, it ended up being cheaper than places in Westchester! Also, because I (Alana) grew up on the beach in Massachusetts, I needed to feel like we were on some kind of water. Also why I chose light colors.
My engagement ring has two diamonds from my nana’s 3 stone diamond engagement ring. The third stone was used in a necklace for my sister as her maid-of-honor gift (Flynn’s idea…what a mush). For the bridesmaids, I wanted a color that all of my eleven girls could look good in! Light lavender was the perfect option for us. Flynn doesn’t like standard tuxes, so we went for a custom blue suit for each of the fourteen groomsman, with custom liners for each jacket. Flynn’s of course being the star spangled banner.
It’s important to mention that I have a sister who passed away when I was 3. She was in the NICU and doing ok, until she had an infection. In my bouquet, my mother’s, and my younger sister’s (who is my best friend in the whole world) there was a single yellow rose representing the sister and daughter that was lost. In the middle of the ceremony, I took a single yellow rose to the statue of Mary with Flynn.
We made our bridal party an actual party and included all of our closest friends and obviously our siblings. First and foremost, this wedding was a party. Also, we made sure that our bridal party would be spending the day with their significant others. So all of us partied on the trolly back into the city before taking pictures at Bethesda Terrace. Cassi was a saint for lining up almost 30 buzzed/playful people and getting all of us focused.
Our seating cards were done by Alana’s mother. They were small bouquets of dried lavender with names and table numbers attached. Also, as Alana’s wedding gift to Flynn, her friend helped her rewrite the song “say you won’t let go.” Her friend played the guitar while one of the singers sang the song. Mike’s gift was a surprise bag piper who played while we all exited the church. I cried. A lot. I love champagne and prosecco! Therefore, our favor was mini Lamaraca bottles! Also, Flynn had American Flag sunglasses made that had our hashtag #eatdrinkandbeflynn on the sides!
We wanted a very simple cake. We’re minimalist people at heart. So, we used the bridesmaids bouquets as decorations around our cake and saved on money! In addition, we chose specialty cupcakes for our guests!
