Today’s cute couple eloped on the day the groom was deployed, so they had a fun vow renewal and reception celebration on their one year anniversary with family and friends! We love how the bride had her mother’s wedding dress turned into a party dress for the occasion! Eureka Photography was there to captured all the pretty.
Harrison had been in Afghanistan for 6 months when he came home for his mid-tour leave. We enjoyed a fabulous two week vacation, and the night before he went back to finish his deployment, we decided we didn’t want to wait another day to get married! The next day we searched for a judge that would fit us into his schedule. Finally we found the perfect Justice of the Peace that heard our story and re-arranged his entire schedule to fit us into his day. The Judge presided over a phenomenal ceremony, giving our close friends and family, a ceremony we will remember for the rest of our lives. Two hours later he was back on a plane to Afghanistan. One year later we celebrated with all our friends and family with a more formal reception!
I wore my Mother’s wedding dress. We knew somebody who remade it to look like a formal cocktail dress since I wasn’t walking down the aisle. It was very special to both me and my mom. The bridesmaids all got to choose their dress as long as it was maroon and short. Harrison and his groomsmen wore black suits and for his gift to them he bought them matching maroon ties.
Since our wedding happened a year earlier we really just wanted a place where everyone could come for the weekend and celebrate our one year anniversary with us. We were looking for a weekend get away where all of our families and friends could stay and enjoy beautiful Central Texas. We picked Log Country Cove because of it’s scenic location on Lake LBJ and all of the cabins available for rent in the same area. That way, our family could be close to us and we had several fun activities to do for the weekend.
My mom gathered vintage wedding pictures of both our grandparents and our parents and had them sitting out on a table with the guest book and some pictures of Harrison and I. It was such a cool personal touch. My mom also found a retailer that carried a brand of wine produced by the Gauthier vineyard. She bought the retailer out of every box they had and gave many of the bottles of wine to our closest friends and family. We also served the Gauthier wine at the reception. We have also saved a few of the bottles for a keepsake.
For me, the most important thing were the flowers. Flowers make me happy and dress up the already beautiful venue even more. We also just wanted everyone to have a good time. We got a DJ and a really fun photo booth. The photo booth gave us a copy of every picture and made an album for us. That was such a priceless gift. Really we could not have had such a beautiful wedding with out the help of our parents. They really made it possible for me to have a truly dream wedding.
