With soft pastels and handmade details, this mountain wedding from Laura Barnes Photo sure is sweet! The suspended greenery was the perfect touch to the ceremony. And we love the groomsmen’s floral print shirts to coordinate with the groom’s tie!
I wanted the wedding to feel relaxed, light, and airy. When we were looking for venues, Juliette Chapel was the perfect place to accomplish that. The peaceful, minimalist chapel became the inspiration for my color palette. I felt the blues and grays would be amazing accents to the simplicity of the chapel. I worked as an intern for Amberly, of Wrennwood Event Design, when she was in college and knew Amberly would be perfect for the kind of look and feel we were hoping to achieve. Amberly was incredible at helping me refine her vision and bring it to fruition. The floral installations brought such an ethereal and refreshing element to the venue. We could not have asked for a more perfect touch.
The pearls I wore were given to me by my aunt. The ring box was an antique piece from my paternal Grandfather, who was a watchmaker and antique collector. We mailed out our invitations with vintage stamps that were also from his collection. Jason carried a vintage handkerchief that belonged to Sarah’s maternal Grandmother to catch happy tears.
Budget was definitely something we had to keep in the forefront of our minds while we planned. I was in graduate school, earning a small monthly stipend through the entire engagement. We didn’t want to go crazy with our spending, and had to prioritize what elements were most important. Aside from that, it was really important for us to have unique and special touches.
I did not want a “pinterest” wedding, I wanted a “Sarah” wedding. We DIY’d quite a bit of the details, and although it was hard work, it was definitely worth it in the end! Some of my friends and I painted & planted the succulent favors. The decor outside of the ceremony honoring family members who were no longer with us was done by me. I also painted and hand lettered all of the signs used at the wedding.
It was incredible being surrounded by our friends and family that day. Love radiated through the space. We had so much fun catching up with everyone, enjoying amazing food, and being goofy in the photo booth.
