If you’ve been dreaming of a sweet intimate wedding, today’s garden wedding captured by Catherine Ann Photography is the perfect inspiration! The bride’s off the shoulder gown is beyond breath-taking! Paired with soft blush florals and an afternoon tea theme, this wedding is the epitome of vintage charm.
I love all things old and antique, so I knew I wanted that to be reflected in our wedding. Also, because we were having an afternoon wedding, I decided to use a bit of an afternoon tea inspiration through the decor. That also meant we could have tea-fare and mimosas, my favorite!
I bought the first wedding dress I tried on! It was a few days after we engaged, and I was shopping with my mother. We drove by a wedding dress boutique that I mentioned I had read about online, and after her urging we went inside “just to look around.” Well, after some encouragement, I decided to try a few on, even though none of the dresses were really what I thought I was looking for. The first one I tried on fit like a glove and made us both cry…but it was strapless! I didn’t want a strapless dress! However, the salesperson came up with the brilliant idea that I could add my own sleeves, which I did. My wedding dress was one of my favorite things about our wedding! I was even able to buy the model I tried on in the store, and didn’t have to get any alterations except for adding the sleeves and bustle. It was meant to be!
Our favorite part of the day was the ceremony. We didn’t do a first look, so it was the first time that John saw me in my dress. We wrote our own vows, so it was exciting to hear those. Our officiant was a family friend, so the whole thing felt intimate, and perfect. And the weather was perfect for a summer afternoon! Once the ceremony was over, it also meant that we could breathe and enjoy the rest of the reception with family and friends.
The most important part of planning for us was photography. I believe that it is the thing, besides memories, that you can take with you from your wedding. They are what you have to look at every anniversary, and what you frame and can see everyday in your home. We had the best photographers with Catherine Anne Photography. They truly understood and captured our vision of how we wanted our photos to turn out. It was important for us to capture lots of family formals, but lots of pictures of John & I as well (we had never had professional pictures taken before!). Katie & Jay delivered far beyond our expectations! We love our photos, and have enjoyed filling our home with prints.
The Rockwood Manor was the perfect spot for an afternoon-tea, garden wedding. All of the antique furniture throughout the house and in the bridal suite were to die for! With all of the antique beauty, we really only had to provide minimum decor. We also loved the idea that there was so much history on the property, and that we could return in future years and reminisce on our wedding day.
