Is there anything sweeter than getting married in your childhood home? You are going to love the sweet sentiment and chic details of this jewel tone Virginia wedding captured by Alicia Lacey Photography! The navy, plum, and gold color palette showcases the very best of fall hues. We love the balance of modern geometric details with lush florals, creating an effortlessly romantic reception design.
Our wedding day was so us! Our “theme” was our love story so all details were decided accordingly. Choosing a venue was super easy for us, because Greg actually grew up in the house before it was sold. His parents also had their wedding reception there 30 years ago.
The Mrs. Box in the detail photos was the actual ring box Greg used to propose. The cake topper “I Love You TDDGP” (Triple Double Decker Googleplex) is actually something we say to each other and is inscribed in our rings. I loved the monogram ribbon!
Budget wise, our priorities were photography, florals, and my gown. But what was truly most important was just actually getting married! We wanted it to be a relaxing day and to focus on the start of our marriage.
As wedding photographers ourselves, we really wanted to work with vendors who we could be hands off with and could let them make decisions based on their creative genius! So we actually had no idea what our reception, bouquet, or wedding cakes would look like! I am a huge fan of florals and have worked with The Posey Detail loads of time and I knew she was going to blow me out of the water, which she did! I loved having a first look with my bouquet! Hiring our vendors based on their creative genius was one of the best decisions we made! There is not a single thing that we would change about our wedding day!!!
The china plate for our cake cutting was Greg’s great aunt’s, who was also an owner of Rixey Manor back in the day. The china pattern is also called “Furnival Quail” which is our last name!
Whenever I think of our wedding, I am filled with so much love and happiness! I loved getting ready with my mom and sisters, and Greg’s grandmother, mom, and sister. I loved that our puppy, Lily could be a part of our day! I loved the first look with Greg, my dad, and my bouquet! Writing our own vows was really important to me and while I was super nervous about it, I am so glad we did it! Also, I absolutely LOVED my dress, jewelry, and hair and make up! If I could wear it everyday I probably would!
