This is such a cute idea and perfect for a floral loving bride!
Terrarium DIY
To create a terrarium you simply need 3 things:
-Glass Vessel
-Plants
-Natural Accessories
Pick your vessel– Re-use an old glass bowl, or container to be green!
Pick you plants– Air plants are the new favorite. They thrive without any soil, and get their nutrients from the air. If you’d rather get you hands dirty and plant, pick some miniature house plants or succulents from your local garden center.
Pick you accessories– Sand, gravel, moss are great for a base layer. Preserved reindeer moss adds bright color. Use any rocks, driftwood, stones, or other dried natural materials to add texture in your terrarium. Even small figurines can add some whimsy life into your creation.
STEPS:
1.Fill the bottom of your glass vessel about 1/3 the way with accessories. Put the heavier things in first, and lighter items (like moss) in on top. This creates a wonderful layered look.
2.Place your plants. Keep in mind your plants will grow.
A good rule of thumb for plants is to use one low creeping plant, one medium bushier plant, and one tall plant. This helps create balance in your terrarium.
3. Add your accessories. Surround the plants with colorful moss, decorative stone, or anything of your choosing!
4. Tend to your terrarium daily. Check your plants for water weekly. Gently mist or spray your plants with non-chlorinated water. Keep out of direct sunlight.
