The pure joy is palpable in this adventure loving couple marrying at a family cabin in Oregon. Captured beautifully by Amanda Meg Photography, this is one adorable DIY wedding you are sure to love!
I wanted to compliment the natural beauty of the grass meadow, riverfront and ponderosa pine trees on the property with a soft yet charming color scheme and decor. Dashes of light pink and blue with black rod iron shepherds hooks were the perfect backsplash for the bouquets of fresh dahlias and smiling faces.
The location of our wedding was very special to us because Kevin, his father and late grandfather built the cabin on the five acre piece of river front property. Additionally, it was the peaceful haven that we would hide away in when we had time off. We love that we got to make a special place even more memorable. It is such a joy to look out over the meadow now and be able to picture our special day.
One of my favorite parts of our wedding day was when the song that I had meticulously chosen didn’t play because of technical issues. My sister who was the maid of honor began to hum “Here Comes the Bride” and all of our guests chimed in and hummed me to the altar.
The most important thing to Kevin and I was that the planning and wedding day were stress free and full of love with friends and family. I gave lots of extra time in the day-of itinerary so that we would have plenty of time to soak up each moment without ever feeling like there was a time crunch.
It was very special to me to make things from scratch and see the creativity of friends and family come together to compose such a beautiful wedding. My mom and grandmother helped me make the invitations and design the layout of the ceremony and reception. My father-in-law put in the 15 foot posts for stringing lights and photos and made the property look immaculate over the summer. My big sister and dad designed and constructed the beautiful arch that we got married under. The day before the ceremony all of the wedding party came to stay at the cabin and help set up. The bridesmaids put together all the bouquets along with setting out all of the decor.
I loved slow dancing with my husband under the lights and watching my family and friends eat dance and pray together. I couldn’t have asked for better folks to support us and be a part of our marriage.
