When your venue has a lemon orchard, yellow is an obvious choice for the color palette! Paired with navy, it makes this elegant and eclectic wedding from April Maura Photography come to life. Meaningful details centered around the couple’s relationship, the beautiful Arizona landscape, and bright vibrant florals were the superstars of the day. And don’t you just love those cakes?
We love the desert that we get to call home. Being outside to enjoy the Arizona landscape, mountains, and most of all the people was very important to us. We chose this location because it is at the center of our lives in Phoenix and highlights the beautiful Camelback Mountain.
Justin had not wanted to do a first look but April helped to convince him that it was a great choice. He was quickly persuaded and I think that time with him was some of my favorite of the whole day. Just enjoying the magnitude of the day with my best friend and being silly together before the wedding began was so special. It also helped me to keep perspective that, yes, all of the details were good but the most important detail of the whole day was embarking on this new adventure with my best friend.
It was most important for us to create a beautiful but mores so joyful space for all of our family and friends to enjoy and celebrate with us. These are the people that will be there for us throughout the years, when we are celebrating life and when marriage is hard.
I love Craspedia flowers and yellow Ranunculus so I wanted to include these flowers for the wedding which led to a color pallet that included yellow, white, grey, and navy blue. It was so fun to develop the details around nature and simple beauty.
I wanted to acknowledge the strong marriages that both Justin and I have been blessed to grow up depending on. By the grace of God we have had some wonderful examples of marriage set before us with their own struggles but also God’s redemption story filled with his grace. There was a special table set up to share the pictures of our parents and grandparents on their wedding days.
I have some very creative friends who were so gracious to share their talents to make our day so beautiful. We created hand painted table number wine bottles that were incorporated in the center pieces, our brother-in-law made our wedding arch that was just so beautiful, and several friends made painted calligraphy signs and verses that all turned out just wonderfully. The details brought to life by close friends made it so special.
