I can’t think of a more perfect location for a wintery wedding than a Christmas tree farm! With vintage decor galore, a rich plum and teal color palette, and lush greenery, today’s wedding from Oh Darling Events captured by Alyssa Shrock Photography is an instant favorite. The centerpieces are so romantic, with succulent filled books and lots of candlelight, creating the dreamiest setting. I love how the couple chose to stay true to themselves and opted out of a dance party reception, offering whiskey and cigar lounge for their guests instead.
I was very excited to have my dream reception at Ricciardi’s Tree Farm, a beautiful property and barn. It was a special place for me, because it belonged to my childhood best friend’s family and I spent a lot of time there during my childhood. I have a love for succulent plants and so I knew I wanted to go with that color palette. So using teals, plum and quartz seemed like they would look beautiful together.
One of my favorite moments was when my amazing bridesmaids surrounded me and all took turns lifting me and Michael up in prayer. It definitely became an emotional time. (Should have done that before we all had our makeup finished! haha)
It was most important for us to keep it true to ourselves and what we had imagined for our wedding. Michael and I loved being able to have our ceremony at our home church in Hudson, Ohio. We wanted our marriage covenant to be a reflection of Christ’s love and commitment to His Bride, the Church.
With our reception in such a beautifully decorated barn created such an amazing atmosphere. It was complete with candlelight, vintage table settings, a cigar/whiskey lounge, a wine and chocolate settee, and a beautiful coffee bar. A great ‘customized’ way of capturing me and Michaels personalities. A huge “Thank You” to Kim with DaniLyn Vintage Rentals for making my dream reception come true!
We wanted our wedding to fit our personalities. For example, we wanted to have a whiskey and cigar lounge but didn’t want to have a DJ or dancing. That’s not our personality. Some people thought it would turn out to be so boring, but in the end, we got so many compliments on it being the the best reception they have ever been to. It was just how we imagined it to be. There was not a lot of loud music, so people could mingle and have conversations.
I knew from the first time that I heard the song “Forget me Not” by the Civil Wars years ago, that I wanted it to be our first wedding dance song. We made it extra special by having my two sisters perform it live.
During the end of dinner, a thunderstorm, complete with hail, passed over briefly. The hailstorm crashing on the barn roof was an amazing moment, causing the guests to rush to watch in amazement. After the rain passed, a beautiful fog began to lift through the pine trees and created a magical and surreal sense of being surrounded by a cloud. It is a wonderful memory. My whole wedding day was perfect. I could not have been happier with everything: from the flowers, to the food, to the family and friends who were there, and even to the hailstorm!
