Cowboy boots and lace make for a rustic chic combination in this family farm wedding from Summer Shea. The couple personalized the wedding by DIYing almost everything and including family heirlooms to highlight their love for vintage.
Our wedding was held at my mother and father in law’s home in La Cresta, California. We chose to have it there because it was their dream to have their children married at their home as well as it is a beautiful piece of land surrounded by lavender, and oak and olive trees. We wanted a shabby chic/country theme and that’s what we did. I love pastels and I chose blush pink to be our main pop of color to keep that shabby chic vibe. We all wore cowboy boots for our country portion plus we were in the country so it all worked out.
Our most important thing was to keep it detailed and personal. We never wanted a cookie cutter wedding so we made sure to keep our love for vintage known throughout the wedding from the mis-matched plates to our vintage couches.
Everything at the wedding we looked for for months. We didn’t rent any of the vintage items and a few of them were items that have been in our family since we were kids. His mother even hung her veil from her wedding on a cute table near the ceremony which I thought was really cool.
Everything was DIY at our wedding. Our flowers were put together by my bridal party, our favors were homemade lavender soaps made by my mother in law, we made candied bacon for appetizers, our centerpieces were made by myself and my husband out of wood, the banners were made by my mother and the burlap and lace table runners were made by my grandma as well as the cloth napkins. The list goes on but everything was DIY except the chair, table, and tent rental. It was so cool this way because everyone felt really involved and a part of it.
We loved our entire wedding but our favorite part was the ceremony, that’s the whole purpose of a wedding, us committing to each other and both our families becoming one. We also loved visiting with all our family and friends and getting to have fun dancing and just hanging out.
