I’m loving the blush and navy color palette in this South Dakota wedding from Sara Lynn Photographic. The combination is always classic and chic. How amazing is the signage? The stripes and florals are so perfect!
My style is a little hard to explain. I’m not overly traditional or feminine but also, not edgy. The word I used to describe my vision the most was simply “soft”. I had soft blush bridesmaid dresses and many gold details. My dress was not the one I originally envisioned myself in but I fell in love with the illusion top. Alex requested navy suits and luckily, I loved the idea.
I purchased most of my accessories and some décor on BHLDN. I loved looking at this site for inspiration. Mainly, I just chose things that I loved. Our wedding was in October but our décor did not resemble the fall season in the least. We used a lot of greenery and our colors were mainly blush, white, gold, and navy blue. And to me, it was perfect.
In initial planning discussions, we realized that the entertainment and photographer were most important to us. Great music is vital because I believe it sets the tone; we wanted both a romantic and fun atmosphere, which DJ Jer effortlessly pulled off. For photography, we selected Sara Lynn Photographic and I cannot say how grateful I am that we did. She captured all of the details and all of our joy in her images and we will cherish them for many years to come. She is professional, yet so fun and one look at her photos will make you fall in love.
I love that we had a lot of personal touches. My aunt is an extremely talented floral designer and brought my vision to life using my favorite flowers. My dad and uncle built an amazing wooden photo backdrop and wooden boxes to bring a little rustic charm into the mix. We added garland and fresh seeded eucalyptus to the backdrop to make it more whimsical. We provided props so that guests could either take silly pictures or just have a nice backdrop for family photos.
It was also important to me to have fun during the planning process. I didn’t use a wedding planner but we did have a long engagement so I took on projects in bite-sized pieces. I genuinely enjoyed at least 85% of the planning process.
