Classic beauty reigns in today’s southern wedding captured by White Rabbit Studios. Navy and pink is a timeless color combination and it is the perfect fit for this couple’s historic home wedding. All the florals are so effortlessly romantic. I love the stripe ribbon details on the bouquet and boutonniere.
I fell in love with the Weeden house during a tour of the grounds right after Phillip and I were engaged. It was Southern and charming and just the right size for the party we envisioned. Our colors included navy, pink and gold, with a vision of an evening garden party, utilizing the grounds of the Weeden House and the talents of my florist, Chris Hutchens.
The veil I wore was handmade. My Aunt Becky made it for my cousin Jaclyn’s wedding in 2009. I believe it has lace from my grandmother (Mary Jac) dress and aunts dress, as well as sea pearls from Jaclyn’s dress. It was the perfect length for me and I was excited to borrow the piece for my wedding day.
I was lucky and thankful for all my vendors. I gave my style sheet to Chris and he made the most beautiful and stunning floral arrangements. I knew I could count on him to pull everything together. Cakes were made by one of my best friends and bridesmaids, Caitlin—so delicious. And Narvell did not disappoint with the catering and food options
Phillip and I both enjoyed getting to sneak away with Ashley during sunset. Some of the moments she captured are quite spectacular. A home owner a few houses down from the Weeden House saw us taking pictures and invited us into her personal garden for some photos, which we nicknamed the Secret Garden. One of my favorite pictures has a large iron gate in the foreground, with us kissing in the garden.
The Weeden House is a historic home and museum, so we let the details, artwork and furniture shine during our reception. I didn’t want to cover up the beauty of these qualities with decorations too modern for the space.
We tried to stay true to the things we enjoy and our personalities. It is easy to get caught up in trends and Pinterest inspired themes. Our dinner was a Southern family style meal, complete with fried chicken, pork, corn and lima bean salad, grits, and cornbread. People are still raving about Narvell’s cooking and we couldn’t be more pleased with the meal.
