I’m obsessed with the bold magenta hues in today’s California wedding from Lindsey Gomes. With amazing florals (those cabbage roses and dahlias are so dreamy!) and sequin linens, it’s hard not to fall in love with this eclectic styled wedding. And there’s a s’mores bar. I’m pretty sure every wedding should have a s’mores bar around a fire pit.
We met while attending Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, and knew we wanted to get married back on the CA Central Coast where it all started! After visiting the Cypress Ridge Pavilion and seeing the beautiful green landscape complete with a lake and fire-pit, not to mention meeting their wonderful staff, we were sold. The vibe we went for was “one big party,” and both my husband Matt and I agree, mission accomplished! As a bride of course I wanted the event to be beautiful, but with a little bit of quirkiness with all of the colors and textures.
With only 5 months to plan a 200 person affair, we were most focused on finding the right venue–there needed to be a large outdoor space for the reception, but also space for some serious dancing. Everything else came together from there. It also really helped that we based our budget off of what our priorities were when it came down to the traditional elements of a wedding. Planning a wedding from Northern California, having a coordinator was a huge help, and the venue was so accommodating to our ideas.
My mom and I did a few projects: we scrubbed off the labels of clear wine bottles to hang the table numbers from the necks on ribbon, we spray painted other bottles gold and dipped them glitter (cuz let’s face it, who doesn’t love a little glitter at a wedding?) and made frames with pics of my husband and I at the different ages corresponding to the table numbers. I also made our bar signs, and one of my bridesmaids of mine helped me with making our seating charts. Though not necessarily ‘DIY’, one thing I was happy with was using multiple objects from my own house as decor items for the wedding! I realized the colors I’d picked for my wedding were pretty on par with colors I love overall, and I had a lot of different things at home I could bring and use for accents (examples: white lanterns by the fire pit, all of the pillows in our lounges, and various vases/candle holders). I didn’t have to spend any extra money, and I think it all fit in perfectly!
It was a day and evening full of love that we felt all around… I could not ask for more.
