Sweet and fun are the words of the day for this cute Williamsburg wedding from Betty Clicker Photography. The couple fell in love in New Orleans so they incorporated a lot of fun details in their day to reflect their love story. The bride, Christa, is killing the retro short dress look and I absolutely love her hair in a chic pony.
Dan and I met in New Orleans and life has been full of laughter and lots of food ever since! We wanted to make sure we included elements of the place we call home (and where we fell in love!) into our wedding day. While planning, it was important to us to make sure the weekend was filled with time with family and friends – celebrating the beginning of our lives together. From our laid back welcome bbq (in lieu of the traditional rehearsal dinner), to the after party at Dan’s college bar, it was full of love that we will never forget!
Having a New Orleans style second line parade was an element we definitely wanted our family and friends to experience. Since Dan is from New York and myself from West Virginia, it was a big highlight of the day! It was made even better since Dan’s Alma Mater played a role! Dan contacted the William and Mary brass quintet, Bel Canto Brass Quintet, and they were amazing. I will never forget the sound of the trumpet right after we were pronounced husband and wife!
Looking back, we are glad we set aside some time for ourselves during the cocktail hour. Taking a walk around the campus and sneaking a few kisses on the Crem Dell Bridge before dancing the night away was just the down time we needed.
We also wanted to make sure that our family and friends were well fed. We brought a taste of New Orleans to the reception. Since Dan is the editor of a Louisiana food magazine, it was kind of a no-brainer! Seeing everyone try dishes they have never had before was a real treat for us to see! We sometimes forget that outside of Louisiana, gumbo, étouffée, and red beans & rice are not everyday foods!
Some of the moments that always bring a smile to our faces about the day:
Christa – surprising our family and friends with a swing number for our first dance!
Dan – hearing the 1780s organ play Louis Armstrong’s What a Wonderful World while seeing Christa walk down the aisle.
