If you only thought rustic style was about mason jars, this wedding from the fab team at Lukas & Suzy VanDyke will change your mind. It is rustic, urban, vintage, and modern all rolled into one gorgeous wedding. And the hanging herbs ceremony set up? Possibly one of my favorite altars of all time!
We were married at the Carondelet House in Los Angeles on November 22, 2013. The venue has a rustic elegance that instantly makes you feel at home, so we knew it would be the perfect place to share our special day with family and close friends. We added our own family photos and mementos to make the setting even more intimate, and created a scavenger hunt that allowed everyone to connect with our history while celebrating our future. It was a truly magical evening.
Our theme was the oak tree (symbol used on our invitations, and throughout the printed materials). It symbolizes our family history — and strong, lasting memories. During the cocktail hour, we had a little scavenger hunt where guests could look at pictures and discover clues about the bride & groom.
During dinner, there were clipboards with a mad-lib and the 6 questions relating to the cocktail hour hunt. Those who got all questions right were eligible to win a bottle of champagne or wine, which we awarded right after cake cutting.
