If you love calligraphy and chalkboard art, you are going to fall for today’s romantic pink wedding from Lovestru.ck Weddings + Events! There are so many details I am obsessed with! From the oversized paper flower prop to the lush floral centerpieces to the adorable silhouette corn hole boards, there is so much to love! What is your favorite detail?
When Dusty and I got engaged, we initially wanted to have an outdoor ceremony and reception, but after realizing how unpredictable Nebraska weather can be, we decided to play it safe and have the ceremony in a church. We are like things to be traditional with a twist, so we thought that this would be a perfect way to incorporate a traditional church wedding and then have a big, tented outdoor reception that was a bit different than your everyday rent-out-a-reception-hall wedding.
Being that my family had just purchased a lakefront property about 20 minutes outside of town, this was our go-to spot for the reception! The property has a 70s-style ranch house and a boat house that were both completely gutted and remodeled, much of the work being done by my husband! A big spot on the hill was leveled for the tent to go, hundreds of trees were planted and pruned, and it ended up being a huge project that is still ongoing! No one in the family could have ever comprehended how much work was going to end up going into the renovations at the lake property, or how incredible it would all turn out!
We wanted the decor and general feel of the wedding to be very classic, timeless, and elegant and a little bit earthy. We liked the idea of having a black tie type of event, but at the same time, we wanted people to feel relaxed, and entertained and keep things high energy! We accomplished this by sticking with a soft color palate of ivory, blush, and incorporating both silver and gold to mix it up a bit and including lots of greenery! We had a piano/electric violin duo during dinner, and then a live band for the dance!
Dinner consisted of food stations–some classics like beef tenderloin and mashed potatoes were served, and then we put a twist on things with an Asian station that had a variety of sushi and Thai rolls. The biggest hit was our mac-and-cheese station, which appealed to both kids and adults alike! There were chefs taking personal orders and mixing in different toppings and then cooking the food in front of guests! We had a traditional wedding cake, but also opted for some cake pops! There was a nice contrast between classic and contemporary!
