I hope you’ve got your ‘pin it’ button working, because today’s backyard wedding from the fab duo at Lovers of Love is too good to pass up! The bride’s look with her floral crown and sheath bouquet: gorgeous. The yellow mismatched bridesmaids with their polka dot tights: super adorable. The details handmade by family and friends: effortlessly beautiful. I’m in love!
Our main focus was to keep the wedding rather casual and “west-coast” without it looking too much like it was just slapped together. The ceremony took place in my Aunt’s backyard, and the reception was next door in my Grandmother’s back yard, which is full of citrus trees, avocado trees, and flowers. So from the start, the wedding was always about being together as a family, pleasantly crammed into a yard under the California winter sky.
Ashleigh and I designed our arrangements, and they were beautifully made by a family friend. My sister also did a lot of last minute arrangements using various bottles, and did some other decorating, like the bunting, etc. I designed our invitations and printed them myself with an Archetype Letterpress. I also designed and printed our wedding programs.
Most of the aspects of the wedding were sourced from our friends and very local vendors. We also spent about 3-4 months collected mis-matched glassware from thrift stores and yard sales so that we could cut down on disposable glassware. That ended up being a nice way for Ashleigh and I to spend some time together amidst crazy wedding season. Plus everybody had different glasses, which was cool!
