If you’ve been in the mood for some vintage glamour, then today’s Hawaii wedding from Tamiz Photography will definitely settle your craving! First, this wedding is set in one of the most gorgeous locations I’ve ever seen. I don’t think it gets more romantic than the Haiku Mill on Maui. Add in some lush florals, beautiful hints of blush, and some glam chandeliers and this is wedding is like out of a dream!
Matt and I live in Australia but I am from California so we decided for our wedding that we would meet halfway and have it in Hawaii. I knew already that I wanted vintage glamour and elegance but I wasn’t sure if I would be able to find that in a tropical destination. When I came across the Haiku Mill in Maui I knew I had found everything I had been looking for in a venue. This magical location provided all the inspiration for the rest of our planning.
The day of the wedding was everything I had dreamed it would be. The Hawaiian sun was shining, the flowers were more beautiful than I ever could have hoped and my wedding planner, Corinne, had succeeded in transforming the mill into a lush, vintage wonderland. One of the most memorable moments was getting ready in the beautifully decorated Cane House that sits adjacent to the Mill. Having all my closest girlfriends and my mother there in that beautiful setting is something I will never forget.
We wanted the beautiful brick ruins of an old sugar mill to be the main feature and decided to choose only white and pale pinks for our flowers and accent colours so that the natural beauty of the location could really shine. Travel was an important theme of our wedding and something we chose to use throughout from our vintage postcard save-the-dates to our antique map that we used as a seating chart. Matt and I have traveled to many places together in our 8 year relationship and being from different countries we thought it would be a nice way to tie in that aspect of our lives.
Another perfect moment was when the sun began to set and the exquisite chandeliers lit the Mill as they appeared to be hanging from the sky.The entire day was absolutely perfect, from the venue, to the food and drinks, my amazing photographers, and being able to marry my best friend. I know it was a day Matt and I, and our guests, will never forget.
