Rustic New Mexico Mountain Wedding

Today’s rustic New Mexico wedding from Jasmine Nicole is the perfect example of letting who you are as a couple shine through in your wedding. What do you do if you love the outdoors? Get married in the mountains! Your groom to be is a geographer? Of course your guest book will be a globe. Bonus: this couple just radiates newlywed joy, which makes the details all the more amazing! Be sure to watch the film at the end too!

Well, to start this off, I am a go getter and an outdoor freak.  Anders and I heard about this great, inexpensive venue, tucked away in the mountains above Santa Fe. I was on a strict budget, that I had set for myself, so as to not go over board and above my simplistic ideas. In January, 5 months before the wedding, and the day before you were able to sign up for a summer date at this ski lodge, Anders and I threw our down jackets on and pulled an all-nighter, so as to sign a paper with our specific date. It sure was a competitive and exhausting ordeal, but we managed to execute and received June 15th- the day we had planned! The lodge was perfect and was a steal! Brick everywhere, the rustic feel I was going for, and the outdoorsy experience that I adored!

My bridesmaids wore a variety of neutral, vintage dresses and the groomsmen wore grays, dark browns, and blues. They were mix matched to allow for individualistic taste and character. My wedding dress was simple and had a leaf lace pattern which didn’t overwhelm or exist to overcome who I was. I wanted to still feel like me while I wore this white dress. I think that that’s also a very important part, making sure you chose a dress that fits who you are,  stay away from looking for a dress that changes your whole character. Your husband is marrying you for you, remember.

first look | Jasmine Nicole Photography

The wedding day was amazing, the sky was a bit gloomy and  a few moments before the first look, it poured. I was nervous of course but the rain cooled everything off and the rest of the day was wonderful! My favorite part of the wedding had to be the moment I walked down the aisle. Yes it’s the “scariest” part but also the most memorable. Holding my fathers hand tightly, as encouragement to keep moving forward and seeing the teary, smiling face of my soon to be husband was a memory that Jasmine(my photographer) captured and a moment I’ll never forget. Honestly everyone else melted away as I kept focused on my soon to be husband’s adorable grin! Once up in front of everyone and holding the hands of the man I loved, complete calmness surrounded me and allowed for me to soak the moment up.

Our venue was so beautiful, I felt that adding too many decorations would detract from the natural elegance the lodge already had. Keeping our wedding as simple as possible was very, if not the most important part to us. I am not a glittery girl and Anders reminded me throughout the process of planning, that I would be happier the simpler the wedding would be. I had lace white table clothes, small wooden stumps with wild flowers in rustic tin cans, and neutral tones so as to allow for the nature that surrounded, to overwhelm the canvas I was painting.

After the ceremony, the rest of the day was a blur! I took time to walk through and tried to capture mental pictures of the day, but honestly without the pictures that Jasmine captured I wouldn’t have any memory of the event! Our wedding was the best day of my life, and I couldn’t have asked for better friends and family who worked so hard to make it the special day that it really was.
