Today I’m sharing a burgundy and purple wedding from Kristen Weaver Photography. This color combo is perfect for an autumn wedding. How sweet are the little love bird details? I love the centerpieces too! Doing plants vs cut flowers for your centerpieces is a great way to stay eco-friendly and is nice to your budget.
When trying to decide where to get married we looked all over Saint Simons Island, GA and all over Jacksonville, Fl (I’m from St Simons, Chad is from Jacksonville). After deciding for sure that I did not want to get married on St Simons we started looking into getting married in Savannah… after all, that is where he proposed. During our search for a venue we came across the White Room is St Augustine. St Augustine is beautiful and it’s only about 20 min from his parent’s house so it would be super easy for both of our families and friends to get to. When we went to go see it I was sold on getting married on the rooftop. I couldn’t have chosen a better location.
Planning the wedding was fun but STRESSFUL. I loved looking for and finding my wedding dress. At the start of planning Chad said he wanted me to plan everything and he would just agree… he ended up planning more than any man I have ever known. He helped pick out everything. The only things I chose all alone were my dress, my hair, and my girl’s dresses… but I even gave them some say in that. We decided on the colors being purple and garnet. I originally wanted purples, greens, and ivories but Chad insisted that in some way we incorporate Florida State into our wedding (that’s where he graduated). I was apprehensive at first, but it gave me a great excuse for my bouquet to be all red roses. To me, what was most important was that it reflected our personalities and it was original, not cookie cutter. I feel like it fit us perfectly.
I don’t think that I have one favorite part of the day. The whole thing was so perfect. If I had to choose one it would be when I was walking down the aisle. I was nervous until my eyes met Chad’s. I couldn’t and didn’t want to take my eyes off of him. My second favorite moment (as silly as it seems) was right before we were introduced. Chad was socializing and my wedding planner came up to me and asked, “Where’s your husband?” I almost ignored her because I didn’t realize she was asking me! I said, “Me? Oh wait! That’s right! I have a husband!” That moment and my reaction still makes me laugh.
My wedding day was perfect! Leading up to the wedding I kept telling myself not to let anything ruin my day. It was the one time in my life that I felt I was allowed to be selfish…but…just in case… I kept telling myself, “Something will go wrong. It will be ok. Something will go wrong. It will be ok.” Luckily for me nothing did. It was the most beautiful wedding I could have ever imagined and everything turned out better than I expected.
