If you are a fan of pink and sparkle, then you are going to love today’s wedding! First, let’s talk about the heels. I mean, it doesn’t get any better than pink heart Kate Spades! I absolutely love the hot pink bouquet and the glittered pinecones, so fabulous for a winter wedding! Also, how cute is the little illustration telling guests the different cupcake flavors? I love this idea!
The gorgeous bride Valerie shares:
When we got engaged, the first thing we chose was our beautiful venue, the Patrick C. Haley Mansion in Joliet. After we chose our venue, we designed our choices around the mansion that we loved so much. For example, we knew that the mansion would be decorated for Christmas in gorgeous silvers and golds at the time of our wedding, and I immediately thought of the beautiful glittery pinecones that my grandmother has always had on her Christmas tree. From that point on, the unlikely “theme” of vintage, glittery pinecones took hold!
One of my favorite parts of the day was our ride from our ceremony to the reception. My wonderful husband had chosen a beautiful vintage car for us to travel in- not only was the car gorgeous, but it gave us an excuse to spend time alone during our wedding day! I don’t even remember what we talked about on our trip over, but it felt so special to be able to share some private time together and call each other husband and wife for the first time!
Beyond just the the aesthetics of our wedding, we really thought about what we wanted the mood of the wedding to be. We knew that the mansion’s beautiful design and the wonderful service at the mansion would create a regal feel, but we also wanted people to kick back and have a good time. A lot of the little details that we added to the wedding were aimed at loosening people up. For example, our guest book was a Mad Lib that our guests filled out, sealed with a wax seal, and placed in a mailbox, and we had our DJ bring out dancing props. Some people would argue that a giant chicken headdress, Egyptian costumes, and blow up guitars don’t belong on the dance floor of a mansion, but we absolutely loved how the props brought people out to the dance floor in mass numbers!
