Today I’m sharing a sweet backyard wedding from Kortni Marie Photography. I know there’s the old taboo that only the bride wear white, but I really love that the bridesmaids all wore different white and cream dresses. I think the result is beautiful and so fresh for a spring or summer wedding!
True story, I wanted a very, very small and intimate wedding… I would have even been pleased to do a courthouse ceremony and have a lovely dinner reception following the ceremony. My husband, on the other hand, wanted the big wedding! With good reason, Seth and I both love Jesus as our Lord and Savior and believing that marriage is a picture of Him loving the church, Seth thought it to be the priority of our wedding that we ensure that is displayed… And I couldn’t agree more… But it still was wrestle for me, the whole “big wedding” part -ha! I think I was just nervous about walking down the aisle in front of all of those people and planning an event for all of those people… So, to sum that up, it was important that the Gospel was displayed at our wedding…
Oh girl, walking down the aisle! I was a MESS! A nervous wreck -I truly did not believe I’d make it down the aisle! I had such sweet bridesmaids, however, that were encouraging and pushing me forward… and my mom, who walked me half way down the aisle (my dad walked me down the other half to Seth), was so sweet and precious in her attempt to calm me down and get me walking -and it worked! I was so excited and nervous and fearful and anxious in every amazingly sweet and tender way… once I saw Seth waiting for me, bawling, might I add, I was at complete peace.
It was also important that the day be elegantly simple and sweet, with few details for people to get caught up in. Seth and I are both relatively simple people who prioritize relationships over productions. So as we were planning the wedding, we “x’ed” out several details that lent themselves towards being part of a production, but rather made sure to encourage community in the simplicity of our wedding day.
