I may be a little biased because I shared the same wedding colors as today’s wedding, but trust me: it is not one to miss! Utterly glam, with fabulous details, this Montreal wedding is super chic. I love that the bride thought to get ready in such a beautiful location, it really made for some stunning images in her nightgown and wedding gown!
We chose the stunning venue of the Auberge Saint-Gabriel in Old Montreal for both our ceremony and reception. We just loved the old, rustik feeling of the stone walls, wood beams and fire places. We appreciated the warmth of the place. I decided to bring in glamorous décor for some contrast and it worked together so well. We absolutely loved our décor and attention was paid to every last detail. Colors used included black, cream, silver and tiffany blue.
We decided to get ready at the exquisite L Hotel about eight blocks away from the auberge. It is a magnificent boutique hotel, with an incredible mix of a very old building with classic style architecture and modern artwork from the likes of Picasso and Matisse. Getting ready there was pure luxury and it was a special treat to wake up there on our wedding day and return there for our first night as husband and wife. My wedding dress was incredibly beautiful and very “me”. A gorgeous silk Simone Carvalli mermaid style gown adorned with Swarovski crystals. My cathedral length veil was my “something borrowed” from my sister. I adored my shoes which were tiffany blue with a crystal buckle detail. My stunning jewelry was all designed by a very talented close friend. I never felt more glamorous! I had my sisters and my mother help me get dressed, while the other girls were still getting their makeup and hair done. It made for a nice, intimate time with my family. And I couldn’t resist a dress change at midnight to a strapless A-line gown accessorized with sapphire jewelry.
One aspect that I loved so much about the wedding was how much attention we put into the details, whether it was making choices with a particular vendor or doing some very fun DIY projects with friends. One thing that I adore is how involved my parents were in the planning process. It made so many wonderful memories in the year leading up to the big day. I am also fond of how so many of our choices had personal meaning to us, such as our wedding car. We chose a classic Rolls Royce Royal Princess, which was actually my parents wedding car when they got married in England. Our extraordinary ceremony musicians of violin, flute and cello played choices cherished by my mother and I. We had cried at our initial meeting with them, anticipating walking down the aisle to the remarkable music.
Crystal candelabras made gorgeous centerpieces and added a warm glow to the dining room. Our wedding cake was an absolute dream. A beautiful creation of tiffany blue and white, showcased on our silver cake stand and topped with our Swarovski crystal cake topper. We had the entire top floor booked for our reception and we loved that in addition to our dinner and dancing room we had an incredible lounge space at our disposal as well. We decorated with silver and ivory throw cushions adorned with crystals and had cocktail tables with damask tablecloths. We also had our dessert table and photo booth here.
Billy and I got married on a perfect September day. An intimate ceremony and reception with close friends and family. Our day was executed so elegantly with help from our extraordinary wedding co-coordinator Lisa. It was definitely a day to remember with so many memories and mementos to cherish. One of my most memorable moments was walking down the aisle and seeing Billy’s face, and another favorite was our first dance, lit up by sparklers held by our guests. It was a truly magical and special time.
