A 1920’s Garden Wedding

This week I’ve got an amazing 1920’s styled wedding at an old Florida botanical gardens estate. I am in love with the beautiful black lace trim on the bride’s gown and seeing all the guests in full on flapper garb! This theme is such a great combination of elegance and fun!

The gorgeous bride Alena shares some of her favorite moments:

I really liked the moments that were calm and quiet, which is really weird because I am normally a person that likes chaos.  There were moments throughout the night that I know we will never forget, and Angela and Brian caught most of them! To begin with… getting ready with all the women in my life that are close to me, that was a fun time!  I was actually able to get dressed at the dress shop where I bought my dress at, so it felt a bit like playing dress up with all of the accessories and dresses surrounding me.  Thomas on the other hand got dressed at our venue, Selby Gardens, and didn’t know why he needed to be dressed so early!

Before the ceremony we did a first site shoot.  Angela and Brian staged it so that Thomas would walk up behind me, so he could see me but I had to wait until he walked around in front of me.  That was the longest minute of my life! Unknowingly, we matched perfectly because he was had bought suspenders that were black and white, which matched my dress.

The ceremony felt like it was moving in slow motion and I liked that we did a painted handprint instead of a candle or sand.  That kind of gave us a moment to soak up what was going on before it was over.  I think the father daughter dance was one of the funniest moments of the night. No one expected it, and most people don’t know that my dad thinks he’s a dancing all-star!
