Intimate Greenhouse COVID Wedding

Quickly deciding to go ahead with a legal ceremony after their original wedding plans were postponed due to COVID, this couple planned a romantic greenhouse micro wedding that is too sweet for words. Captured by Anna Kay Photography, this really shows how you can still honor your original wedding date with something intimate and meaningful with close family.

We postponed our original wedding due to COVID- 19. We were heartbroken after making that decision, but knew we still wanted our original date to be something special. We decided we would have a legal ceremony with just our immediate family. We decided this pretty quickly so that meant we were left with very little time to come up with a plan. We called countless counties to find one that was still issuing marriage licenses, inquired numerous venues \ locations only to be told they were not hosting in-person events – we were feeling very defeated and I cried A LOT. Our photographer, Anna Kay Photography, was such a big help during this stressful time and had the bright idea of reaching out to Sekrit Theater where we had our engagement photos taken. They gave us the go ahead and we started planning all of the other details. I work alongside a wedding planner, Scarlet Rose Events, and she was another saving grace by lending me her resources. We booked an officiant and florist for some personal florals.

We put so much time and money into our postponed wedding, we wanted to be skip on a lot of the bigger details for the minimony. However, I wanted to feel like a bride and carry a bouquet so we splurged on personal floral. I have followed Reiley & Rose for years (way before we were engaged) and reached out to them for our wedding, but it didn’t work out so I thought I would try again and she said she would make it happen! I carried the most stunning bouquet and it was one of my favorite details of the day.

We couldn’t imagine not having our parents there to witness our union, so we did everything we could to assure they would be there with us to witness our special day.

We decided we wanted to save our dress and suit for our wedding, so we had a little fun with the ceremony attire! I wore a beautiful fuchsia jumpsuit, and Christian wore a white button down with plaid patterned pants.

Because we had already put so much time and money into our postponed wedding, we wanted this legal ceremony to be simple and intimate. I am not one to leave details alone though, so I had an entire “simple” vision in my head. We were set to have our ceremony in the stunning greenhouse at Sekrit Theater. We knew it didn’t need much, but envisioned candles lining the aisle and anywhere else we could fit them. We didn’t have any specific colors planned – again, this was so last minute and we just wanted to be married so we weren’t too concerned with details like having a certain style or colors.
