Glam DIY Texas Wedding

You are going to fall for this charming handmade Texas wedding from Shara Jo Photography. The couple and their friends and family DIY’d most of the wedding details, everything from the centerpieces to the cake, creating a meaningful and sweet wedding that was their dream!

My wedding colors were a raspberry dark pink, gold, and greenery accents. My style was very rustic elegance. I used brass candlestick holders everywhere that I collected from cheap antique stores, and lanterns that my mom had collected over the years, along with a ton of greenery that I actually cut from my aunts backyard, and english roses throughout. We were married at Selah Springs Ranch in Brady, TX under an elm tree in front of a beautiful streaming river. My mom and I were always trying to find ways to save money and also have a beautiful, unforgettable night.

My wedding dress was an Ivory color with lace and pearls. Matthew wore a light grey suit while the groomsmen wore dark grey suits. My bridesmaids wore different gold solid and patterned dresses. Bridesmaid dresses are so expensive so I let them choose the dress and the price. A lot of my bridesmaids ordered from Rent the Runway.

The most important thing for Matthew and I was to not get carried away with wedding planning. I had so many people tell me they wished they would have eloped because they stressed so much about planning that they ended up hating their wedding. Matthew and I had a year and a half long engagement which gave me plenty of time to plan and not stress out. I think the most important thing that we kept in our minds was that we were getting to marry our best friend and that nothing else mattered. I would definitely suggest other brides think the same way. The day is yours and your husbands, and no one else’s opinion matters. Make it fun! I chose to splurge on our venue and honeymoon and skip having a videographer and wedding planner.

My wedding was mostly DIY so I would be typing all day if I told you all of the details. My advice to brides is to do as much as you can and save money! For our flowers I used english roses and a lot of different types of greenery. I did not do wedding favors. I think that they are costly and a little old fashioned.

My advice: Enjoy it, remember that it is about marrying each other and not about anything else. Also, there is no need to spend a fortune in order to have a beautiful wedding.
