This summer berry themed wedding captured by Greg Lewis Photography is too sweet for words! We are utterly in love with the bride’s lace mantilla veil that was passed down from her grandmother. The whole look is so classic and elegant!
We started with the venue. We wanted a space that we could feel like it was home for the day – a place where all friends and family were welcome. We also wanted someplace that was central for as many people as possible. Tyler and I were living in NYC and family and friends spanned from Massachusetts, Virginia, and Thailand. After much searching, The Lounsbury House was the perfect fit. It was a space that had both grounds for the ceremony and reception. We loved that we didn’t have to leave our guests that day because we would all be in the same place.
I really wanted a long train, lace, and something that was classic in my attire. Both my mom and my Nana had long trains and it was something that I loved. It was so beautiful and regal. I went with an ivory strapless dress with a chapel length train. I wore my Nana’s Spanish lace mantilla which has been worn by my Nana, Mom, Aunts, and cousin.
We both wanted a place that our immediate family and bridal party could stay. This was the group of people that we all loved and we knew that we were so loved by them. We wanted to spend as much time with them all as possible throughout the wedding weekend whether that was sharing meals together, playing games, or just chatting away. We rented an Airbnb in Connecticut about 30 minutes away from the venue. Tyler had his bachelor party there, we took our wedding photos there, and we all got ready together for the rehearsal dinner as well as the wedding there. It eliminated so much stress and brought so much joy to have everyone altogether.
We wanted the summer vibes to come out in our colors and food. We decided to play with summer berry tones – strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. The colors were fun and vibrant and everything a wedding should be! I had worked for Willow & Wine – a wedding planning/florist company – the year before our wedding. They knew how to construct flowers like no one I had ever seen before. So I really wanted them to do my flowers, centerpieces, and garlands. I loved whimsical textures, varying heights, and wanted our summer berry theme to be incorporated into the flowers. Willow & Wine helped me incorporate all of these into the flowers. From the eucalyptus, blue thistle, peonies, ranunculus, and Silk & Willow ribbon, Willow & Wine helped seamlessly create my vision!
We both loved our reception. Getting to dance along with everyone, talking to old friends, and eating cake! We also had a photo booth and a photo booth guest book where people glued a copy of their photo booth photos and wrote us a note. So much fun seeing all the memories made that night. We also enjoyed our ceremony which was so beautifully done by a good friend of ours. We wish we could relive it all often. It was a day that we will never forget!
