Prepare to be charmed! I just love all the cute homespun details in today’s pastel Florida wedding! Pastels are the perfect combo for a springtime wedding, and this couple does a great job at personalizing their details to fit them and their budget. And the bride Nicole is such a natural beauty, I love her simple and sweet wedding day look!
The beautiful bride Nicole shares:
As we were planning our wedding we knew we wanted to keep things very simple and personal. We are both in graduate school and didn’t have much time to devote to wedding planning, so we really tried to keep everything as simple as possible. We envisioned our wedding as a great party with family and friends, and that’s exactly what it turned out to be!
I loved every aspect of our wedding day, but I think my favorite moment was before the ceremony when my mom pulled me aside (as I was running around trying to make sure everything was set up exactly as I planned it and feeling a bit overwhelmed) and told me to look around at all the people who were there helping us (our parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, my grandma, close family friends, and our entire wedding party). We didn’t have a wedding planner or a catering company to set-up and tear-down our ceremony and reception site, so we did it all with the help of family and friends. Although it was a ton of work and it meant that I wasn’t lounging around drinking champagne and being pampered in the hours leading up to the ceremony, that moment when I realized how much love surrounded Danny and I as we started our lives as husband and wife was more precious to me than any other I could imagine. For me, that moment summed up what we wanted our wedding to be: casual, non-traditional, home-made, and filled with the love of all those who enriched our lives on our wedding day and for years to come.
Our wedding budget was pretty tight, so we knew that we would need to get creative and rely on the talents and help of family and friends. Danny’s sister baked four beautiful and delicious cakes for our wedding day and his childhood friend designed our Save the Dates and invitations, which were so adorable, fun, and unique. It was also really important to me that much of our wedding decor be hand-made, which helped us to cut costs and also filled our wedding day with beautiful and meaningful touches. My favorite hand-made item at our wedding was the ring pillow that my sister sewed together from two quilting squares made by our Great Aunt, who passed away before the wedding.
