Intimate Rainy Day New York Wedding

Today’s wedding, captured by Esther Frederick Photography, is filled with sweet sentiments. Though it rained, the couple didn’t let it dampen their spirits. Bridgette made her bridal preparations at her aunt’s lovely home and was transported to the venue in a 1960’s Rolls Royce. We love the floral confetti send-off with paper cones made from the bride’s grandmother’s antique music sheets.

I really love the forest and nature. The Stonehouse was the perfect location to have a “Covid Wedding”, which was most important to us. The Stonehouse is a restaurant in Cloveslake Park, a public area of trails, scenery and lake views. My wedding was small, with only 90 people attending. The ceremony was outside the front of the stone restaurant, under a Gazebo next to the lake, and the reception was in the back of the restaurant under a tent on the lake front. Surrounding the restaurant and lake is a lush forest filled with trails for walking. The reception was filled with candle, twinkling fairy light ceiling, and live band music. I wanted to ambience to be romantic, dim-lit and dreamy.

My dress had a plunging neckline and open back. The dress was light yet traditional with a long train. I wanted it to be sexy and youthful with a whimsical feel. It was slightly see-through, and the bodice glimmered in dim light matching the ambiance of the dreamy evening.

As musicians, we both splurged on the live band Daddy Pop which was the highlight of our night. Everyone commented on the music. It made the whole party. We also skipped on a videographer and instead I had black and white disposable cameras on each table to add to the memories. We got them developed together at a mom and pop Korean family owned photo developing shop called “Accurate Photo Shop” in Park Slope Brooklyn New York.

I wanted it to be as easy as possible for my 88-year-old grandmother to get from place to place so we had our ceremony and reception all in one place. Unfortunately, my grandmother passed 5 months prior to my wedding day. In her memory, I handmade confetti cones out of her music sheet to hold dried flowers which was to be thrown after our kiss. My grandmother taught me piano as a young girl and music was our deep connection. Many of the music sheets used were old Catholic hymns mixed with modern rock music from The Beatles and Joni Mitchell.
