Boho vibes ahead for this colorful wedding from Kay Mitchell Photography! It was held at a mod styled boutique hotel in the desert for the coolest setting. We love how the couple incorporated details from the venue into the paper goods.
Skyview Los Alamos has always been one of our favorite weekend getaways out of Los Angeles. It was one our first trips together as a couple and has always been a special place. The venue size seemed just perfect for the amount of guests we were inviting. We decided to do a hotel buyout so we could have all of our friends and family with us the whole weekend. It was the best decision we made! We wanted to incorporate the colors of the venue and have them reflect in our floral choices. Our style was romantic and feminine. We were also inspired by images of Italian Vineyard wedding especially the dinner set-ups so we wanted to incorporate a similar ambience.
We both love simple, clean designs and decided to also go that route for the dress and suit. A dress with lots of lace and embelishments felt too over the top for a more casual outdoor setting. The groom chose a dark blue suit from Paul Smith. We both wanted to feel comfortable in our looks as well.
Since our wedding was a destination wedding we wanted to make sure our guests felt like they were also getting a mini vacation. We wanted to ensure that we got to spend as much time with our guests as possible. We chose to splurge on the welcome party so we got to spend a couple of hours with our guests hanging out by the pool with endless tacos! We were also inspired by the look of an Italian Vineyard wedding and felt like incorporating string lights at dinner were a must!
We really wanted our wedding flowers to look and feel natural to our surroundings. We asked for a vintage/feminine look and to mimic the venues colors but in pastel tones. We created gift baskets to be placed in all our guests rooms before they arrived to the hotel. Some of the favors in the gift baskets included Skyview’s Rose Wine from their own vineyard and a handpainted map of Los Alamos that included our favorite spots around town. We also created little S’mores kits for our guest to enjoy at the fire pits at the hotel in the evening.
It’s so hard to narrow down because we loved every minute! Some of our highlights included one of our best friends Taurean singing to us during his speech at dinner. Zach’s father performing the blessing of the wine. At the end of the night, the bride and groom jumped in the pool in full wedding attire and all of our friends followed suit!
