Wanting to do something out of the box and loving fun citrus fruit prints, this couple decided on a citrus theme for their wedding. Their ceremony was an intimate gathering in the church Madeline grew up in, with the ceremony officiated by a family friend. The little details made this day particularly lovely––The bumblebee on the cake, the floral staircase installation, and all the beautiful paper goods. Everything down to the last detail was perfectly planned by Social Maven Event Planning. Scroll to see it all captured by Shaw Photography.
I work in the wedding industry and really wanted to do something other than the white & green florals I see every weekend. Having loved citrus fruit print designs and citrus shades of color – we decided to run with it.
My dress was from BHLDN in Pittsburgh. I visited some friends for the weekend in late February, we decided to do some dress shopping with no intention to find the one. The last dress I tried was perfect, but I didn’t want to make any hasty decisions on the spot. I had plans to do more dress shopping in Toronto a few weeks later and figured I’d find something there as well. A week after the trip to Pittsburgh, the world shutdown. We never made it up to Toronto and I ordered the dress from BHLDN and am so glad I did!
The ceremony was incredibly special. We were married by a family friend in the church I grew up in. Our wedding was cut down to immediate family and bridal party only, but we turned around during the mass to see many more family and friends, some that had traveled from far just for the ceremony.
I wore my maternal grandmother’s diamond earrings and my paternal grandmother’s cocktail ring. My cult Gaia clutch was a last minute treat to myself for dealing with all the Covid stress throughout planning.
We DIY’d the escort card display! We had a friend calligraphy the scrolls and purchased the oranges from Wegmans the day before the wedding. The moss bed we made by using adhesive spray on canvas to attach the moss.
My favorite detail was the herend bumble bee on the cake, a nod to our meeting on bumble! Our paper goods were also a favorite of mine! Bobby’s favorite was the floral staircase installation, having never seen something like it in real life he was amazed.
