Ending the week with this sweet and summery Portland wedding from Peachy Keen Coordination captured by Jason Wasinger Photography. The couple has a love of beer so included cute personalized details throughout the wedding day!
We chose Portland because that’s where we truly started our lives together. The easiest choice was our caterer Elephant Delicatessen. When we lived on Nw 23rd we loved to go there for dates. Ian did research online and word of mouth for our venue, date of the wedding, and even our photographer. At one point, he had crafted an excel spreadsheet to see historically what day didn’t rain. Fun fact, it did rain on the day of our wedding but cleared up. Crystal Springs was the perfect garden wedding overlooking a lake and a lovely stroll.
The most important part was how we divided and conquered. We had our budget yes, but we truly listened to the wants of the other and comprised for one another. Meredith was pretty specific about wanting an on-site photo booth (which is such a splurge) and Ian loves the idea of an ice cream cart. With these choices we truly made accommodations to make them happen. Because we had ice cream, we went with a smaller cake to cut and then other desserts such as donuts, fruit tarts, and cupcakes. And the photobooth served as a party gift for all of our guests.
Our arch was something Ian and the best man made themselves so how our florist decorated the arch was one of our favorite things. Meredith’s mom took care of the center pieces by ordering white roses and tulips from Costco, with lots of baby breath.
We called our vision a rustic theme. We locally purchased wood slices from someone’s backyard in the Portland area and stained them for a darker tone. With this rustic, summer theme, Meredith used burlap ribbon to wrap around mason jars. She also collected glass beer bottles, washed the labels off, and decorated them. Some with twine was used to hold baby breath and hang on the chairs to outline the aisle. For the colors, Ian said he wanted Navy suits. With that being determined, Meredith got to select a sage green. They were both on board with the greens ranging the spectrum with pops of yellow and pink.
We chose to have multiple styles of finger food desserts, which turned out to be great! A mix of lemon, berry and tart fritters. The cake itself was a smaller cutting cake with mainly chocolate and vanilla with berry accents. The most crowd pleasing part of dessert was the ice cream cart! We had a little mobile ice cream shop with 6 or so different flavors that all of our guests could choose from. If there wasn’t a line for the bar, there was most definitely a line for the ice cream.
